Opal Irene Lightsey (nee’ Lowe), (90), of Okeechobee, Florida, passed away on April 16, 2022, in Fort Myers, Florida. Opal Irene Lowe was born to Horace and Vera Lowe on February 14, 1932. She attended school at Okeechobee, Florida. She married Clifton Lightsey on July 3, 1949. Opal touched many hearts during her life; her employment included the Okeechobee County School Board as Truant Officer and Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Department as Senior Contact Liaison. Together Clifton and Opal owned and operated Mobley’s Marina and Lightsey’s New and Used. Opal is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Clifton H. Lightsey; her parents, Horace and Vera Lowe; her sister, Yvonne Lowe Brooks; her brother, Harry Elton Lowe, and her son, Dewey A. Lightsey, Sr. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her sister, Floy Nell Lowe, of Okeechobee, Florida; her children: Linda McDermott (Terry), of Beaumont, Texas, Iris Moore (Kirk), of Cape Coral, Florida, and Marcia Tivoli (Chris), of Ft. Myers, Florida; nine grandchildren: Karen Smith (Sam), Brandon Sargent, Phillip Roman, Christi Fulton (Wayde), April Hof (Mike), Dewey A. Lightsey, Jr. (Tammy), Richard Tivoli, Sarah Tivoli, and Alicia Tivoli-Bjornberg (Brett); twelve great-grandchildren: Miranda DuBois, Tristan DuBois, Colin Sargent, Christopher Lightsey (Katherine), Robin Adams, Kaysey Adams, Alexis Lightsey, Payton Fulton, Aidan Fulton, Julian Roman-Kulwicki, Skylar Kulwicki, Avery Kulwicki; six great-great grandchildren: Milo Dubois, Luna Dubois, Jayden Lightsey, Dominic Lightsey, Kannon Atchison, Nash Atchison; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Pallbearers are Brandon Sargent, Dewey A. Lightsey, Jr. Phillip J. Roman, Richard ‘Rick’ Tivoli, Colin Sargent, Julian Roman-Kulwicki, Sam Smith, and Wayde Fulton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Opal Lightsey’s memory be directed to Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908. Visitation will be 10:00 am until services 11:00 am Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
