Maria Garcia, 77 Okeechobee – Maria Garcia died May 17, 2022. She was born December 23, 1944 in Brownsville, Texas to the late Ricardo Tijerina and Antonia Aguirre. A resident of Okeechobee for more than 50 years, she loved spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always secretively gave them money so they could buy themselves a drink or an ice cream. She enjoyed listening to music. Mrs. Garcia was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Angelica De La Cruz; sister, Margarita Gonzalez; and brother, Roy Tijerina. She is survived by her husband, Domingo Garcia; sons, Elias De La Cruz, of New Jersey, Ricardo De La Cruz, Enrique De La Cruz, Hector De La Cruz, all of Texas, and George Tijerina, of Okeechobee; daughters, Yolanda Ochoa, Ana De La Cruz, Esmeralda Tijerina, all of Okeechobee, and Naomi De La Cruz, of Texas; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2022 at Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
