Julian Leggett

Julian Leggett, 85 Okeechobee – Julian Leggett died January 1, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born August 19, 1936 in Screven, Georgia to Lewis and Rachel Leggett. Julian moved to Okeechobee in 1955 where he met the love of his life, Wanda, who became his wife on September 8, 1956. Julian was drafted into the Army in 1959 and he served until 1962. He enjoyed serving his country, but knew he was a country boy at heart and he wanted to return to Okeechobee and his wife. Upon returning home he resumed his employment with Victor J. Domer and his son, Russell V. Domer, where he worked for many years. He opened his own business, Julian’s Welding Service, in the early 1970s. He operated that until his retirement. Julian was preceded in death by his parents, Rachel Moody and Lewis Leggett; five brothers; and one sister. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Wanda (Hare) Leggett; daughters, Lynn Manke (Larry), of Okeechobee, and Tricia Norman (Lee), of Brundidge, Alabama; grandchildren, Ethan (Anna), Reid, and Rachel Norman, all of Alabama; sisters, Faye Weathers (Travis) and Yvonne Maltzberger (Fred); and brother, Ronald Moody (June). Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Evergreen Cemetery.
